The design of the Pill Swallowing Cup® retained true simplicity, using water to propel a pill into your mouth. Instead of a basket for the pill in the cup, the basket was placed on top of the cup. The unique two place design has several functions. First, removal of the lid allows the user to fill the cup with water or juice and not get the pill area wet. This is very important. Next, this design allows for the spout to be angled or tilted back away from the user. This provides a more comfortable drinking motion so less back tilting of the head is involved, great for people reclining in bed (hospitals or nursing home patients) or back-neck mobility problems.

Second, the back tilt of the spout provides an area for the water and the pill, which is resting on a grille above the water, to mix together and enter the mouth at the same time. This creates a natural drinking motion and the pill is usually swallowed by the user unnoticed.

But the main reasons that this device is so unique and works so well are the ribs in the pill spout and basket bottom. These ribs minimize the surface contact between the plastic sidewalls of the cup and the pill surface. If used properly as the instructions outline, being sure to keep the pill and the cup basket dry, any type of pill will work 100% of the time.
